My wife is now 7 months pregnant and we are both getting really excited about the impending arrival of our son! As expected, I've made it MY job to decorate the Nursery Room. I know to many people it probably seems a little late to be starting on this! But we Asians are well known for the thousand and one superstitions in our culture! One of these superstitions (we call it "pantang" in this part of Asia. It's actually a Malay word meaning restrictions) says that one must not carry out any renovation work in the home of an expectant mother. Now, me and my wife, we are not usually superstitious people......but.......you gotta understand, this IS our precious son we are talking about here! So we rather err on the safe side no matter how ridiculous it may seem, alright?!!
Anyway, I've been surfing around researching on nursery rooms decor. Now, before this, I've never liked children, so I tended to steer clear of such topics like the smallpox! But since being promoted to the ranks of a father, I've started to see the LIGHT!! So anyway, these are some pics I've gathered in my "scrap folder" entitled BABY ROOMS IDEAS.......
Now, I'm a designer so naturally, I'm easily attracted to these pics for the tasteful furnishings and colours..........

I kinda like this shade of blue......
It goes splendidly with this orange......

These cribs are truly PERFECT!! But I'm quite sure I won't find anything like these here in little old Singapore........

I'm also quite sure I'm gonna wanna attempt to create a mural wall in the room. But I don't want it too complicated. just simple lines and two dimensional prints........like these..........

I quite like this room too......but I'm sure I don't want something this complicated and probably won't be able to do something this elaborate anyway...........

Now get ready to be BOWLED OVER by THE ULTIMATE kids' room!! These I lifted from the web pages of this AMAZING design company (Kidropolis) that specialises in kids' furniture and interior decorations. Check these pics out for yourselves........

Oh my god! You make me think of having a baby or rather I want to be that baby *hehe* The rooms look so lovely. Next time when I have a baby, I will want you to design for me again :D
Anyway, when is your son coming? Hahaha...will it be in Christmas??
Ha Ha Ha! Have I stirred your motherly instinct? Quick go have one and join us!!
Joel (my son!!) will be joining us 8th Jan 2009 but it's not uncommon for baby to arrive 2 to 3 weeks earlier! So no idea!! Could be X'mas! But I'm hoping he'll be the 1st baby to welcome 2009!! I hear there'll be lotsa prize money & sponsors!!
Wahahah...Sound like you going to strike lottery soon! But I'm sure having a baby feels so much better than that! Well I still have other plans, so baby will have to be put on hold for the time being...
Hahaha, If joel really comes on the 1st jan, remember to let me know!
Hi, did you manage to find a nice crib at the end? Seems like little old Singapore really have limited crib designs! :(
We got a really plain white one in the end.......gave up looking actually.......there are nice ones but nothing within our budget :-( When all else fails, I always fall back on my ultimate design philosophy.....if it's white, it's alrite! See? It even rhymes!!!
Are you expecting too? If yes, congrats!
Yes, I think I'm going to follow your philosophy too! White actually looks quite nice as well, but a little plain!
Hey, Pris! Here's an idea : get a really plain white one (the sleigh type looks classic and good!) but splurge a little more on the sheets!
Unfortunately, you'll learn (like I did) that baby cot sheets designs in Singapore is very very very limited and unimaginative!
I've seen some really nice ones over the internet but can never find any that can even come close........sigh.....
The sheet is much smaller problem than the crib, can buy from Msia or Indonesia.. :)
